Here it was called "The parlament", and this was one of several gathering places on Vikøyri.

The name probably came from the fact that there was political discusses here. Many of the old generation were Left(Norwegian liberal party) people, while the younger guard leaned more toward the Arbeiderpartiet(Labour party).

After people got radio, many people went home when there were new's broadcasts, and then they came back and told the others the latest news.

There were several other gathering places on Vikøyri, and there were always alot of people outside. On the side of the quay building stood a bench that used to be called Lassabenken. When it where the light time of the year and the sun began to warm up a little, there was always full of people on the bench.

And around there it where played "coin bank" with ears(one ear is 1/100 norwegian kroner). Both children and adults were present, and it was 2-earrings or 5 earrings that were of use.
