Jon Oddvar found out early that he liked to drawing and painting and noticed that he had abilities in that direction. And after completing the elementary school, he traveled to Stavanger and took schools on advertising and drawing line, at Stavanger vocational school.
When the schools was completed, with elementary school and vocational education, it was a year in the military for Jon Oddvar.
After the military he began to work as a draftsman for Dagbladet in Southern Norway. In that job he came in contact with several others who work with creative profession. But it was advertising signs he had educated and wanted to work as. After a while drawing for Dagbladet he came in contact with Strømme's advertising in Kristiansand which he got a job with with prime attempts.
In 1976 Jon Oddvar started in the advertising industry and then in “Strømmes Reklame” in Kristiansand. But after several years in Southern Norway as both newspaper and advertising labels tempt it with new challenges. He found it in Oslo where he worked with three different advertising agencies over the 1980s. The first was “Klar Tale”, after that it was at AB -Beats and finally at Take Off. Working in a large advertising agency in Oslo was interesting and educational, but also demanding with a great work pressure.
So after a while Jon Oddvar began to work on his own, where he could continue to develop what he succeeded with and make more art then commercial drawings and paints.
First in Eidsvoll, where he offered all the years he worked in Oslo. But then he turned his nose home to the home village Vik where he is born. Here he still drives drawing, measuring and performing various assignments.
In such beautiful surroundings as in Vik there are many motifs and some of them have been preserved in a unique way by Jon Oddvar.
Here you can look more closely at some of Jon Oddvar's paintings and logo designs that he has drawn. One of the painters is painting on assignments for customers and is of people he knows and some other motives.
