This is the only accomodating house on Vikøyri that has been housed in one part and sheep house in the other. Many houses on Vikøyri were such an entrance. In the sheep part there was room for 5-6 sheep. Those who live here had also a pig and a few chickens. In addition, they grew potatoes on the small patch of land at the house.
Here Anders Person offered Vikøren (1854-1924) and his wife Anna Jonsdotter Vikøren (1853-1902) with 8 children. The family was living close togheter, as was usual. Anders worked at Hopstock saw which was at Kyrelvi. In addition, he made rivers, brooms, whisper and more. Which he traveled to Bergen and where selling on the marked. Some sumer he worked as a mower in the Bergen area.
Anna the wife spit, bucket and dare, and she had a sewing machine that was very useful. She wore fine linen, ie she washed baptismal skirts, bonnet hoods and bonnet shirts. Anna was also a good cook for weddings and parties.
On side of this Anders also do fishing, the family always had cook fish, and what they could not use themselves, they exchange with other goods the farmers in the village.
This is how the family coped with hard work.
This house was built in 1879, and it had originally stood on Tenål (a farm in Vik) and was set up later here in Vikøyri.
